Peppers Please

So, peppers (red, yellow, green, orange) may not be new to you, but they are to me.

About 2 months ago I discovered the deliciousness that is Bell Peppers. I think my favorite are the yellow and orange, but I do love them all.

They are also packed with nutrients like Vitamin C, E, & B6.
They are low calorie--I don't count calories, but that's great news for those of you that do.

So I wanted to share my Stuffed Bell Pepper Dinner with you!

It was really simple and super yummy!

Grab some boneless, skinless chicken breast ( or tenderloins)
Your favorite Bell Peppers--I used a green and an orange
A bit of onion
Some rice
& Tomato Soup Or Chicken Broth

*The amount of each ingredients depends on how many people/days you are cooking for.  I am cooking for only myself for today.*

Cook your chicken first.  Be sure to season it well because nothing else inside of your pepper will actually be seasoned. [ I cooked mine in olive oil on top of the stove, you can also bake it instead]

After you cook your chicken throw some diced onions in the same pan that you cooked the chicken in because there will be some yummy juices and a bit of olive oil left.  Let your onions caramelize for a bit.  It shouldn't take longer than 2 mins since the pan is still hot and the onions are tiny.

Your rice should be cooking during this time as well.

Once everything is done, mix your rice, chicken and onions in a bowl..mix it well so that you have onion and chicken in every bite!

I cut just the very tops of my peppers off, took the seeds out rinsed them well and boiled them for about 3 minutes.  Let them dry while you pre-heat the oven at 400 degrees.

Stuff your peppers with your chicken/rice mix and you can either actually make the can of tomato soup, or just pour it on top as a topping like I did.  It is also a good idea to use chicken broth instead of the tomato soup if you're not into that.  If you don't have any, bake your chicken and use the juice that it creates in the oven.  Pour this over and place it in the over for 10-12 minutes.

*If you don't like tomato soup OR chicken broth, choose something else just be sure not to put it in the oven without anything or you run the risk of all the filling drying out*

ENJOY!

Toddlers & Tantrums

It's all fun & games until Mommy says "Go to time out!".

I'm over it. We need to get out of these Terrible Twos and get to the Terrific Three's(I made that up)..STAT!!

Now, I won't tell you how to discipline your child, because that simply isn't my place. I didn't help you create him/her, and I don't provide any monetary support, what-so-ever.  BUT I can most certainly tell you what I'm experiencing, and how I'm dealing with it.

Tantrums
Talking Back
Testing her limits and my patience
Throwing things

It all drives me nuts.  Since her father and I are co-parenting from different houses, we try very hard to keep the same discipline plan across both houses.  It does get tricky though.  You see, at his house she is in time out for as long as it takes her to apologize for her offense.  That can literally take 2 seconds to about 10 minutes.  At my house, her time in time out depends on the offense.  It can range anywhere from 1 minute and up, depending on how crazy she's acting. I set a timer on my phone and she isn't allowed to even turn around until that timer goes off. If it is going to be a long time out, I give her a chair--I feel like it's TOO severe if I don't and I feel TOO bad. Short time out visits can be standing up.  Once it's over, I remind her what she did wrong and tell her how she needs to act or react the next time we cross the same road.  Obvi I give it to her in the way in which a 2.5 year will understand.

For Example:
Me: If you don't want to be in trouble, you need to be a good listener. If you don't want to be in trouble, what do you need to be?
Kiyah: A tiger.
Me:  -_-. No. You need to be a good listener. If you don't want to be in trouble, what do you need to be?
Kiyah: A listener.
Me: Ok. I love you. Be a good listener.

That REALLY happened.

There are times where I will choose to tap her hand for things.  When I say tap, I literally mean I TAP her hand and she loses her mind as if she was just stabbed in the hand lol.  It really is just the IDEA of me "spanking" her that hurts her.  Even then, it's hurting her feelings, not her hand.

To me, the biggest thing about disciplining her is that she 1. Knows and Understands why what she did was not appropriate and 2.  That she knows even though she's in trouble, I STILL LOVE HER!  She is a real life sour patch kid.  First she's sour, then she's sweet.
 This is my Sour Kiyah.
This is my Sweet Kiyah.

So, if you're in your Terrible Twos, know that you are not alone! I feel your frustration lol

I'd love to hear some of your outrageous Terrible Twos stories, so feel free to share!

Extinguish Eczema!

It's not a cure, but it's a GREAT long term temporary relief!

Though I gave Kiyah some fabulous features, I also gave her the terrible dry skin curse I have...ECZEMA!

Luckily, for both of us, we don't have too severe of a case.  I am also not really one to drag her to the doctor for every tiny reason.  If i can figure it out myself, I do.

Anyway..

She gets it on her little tooshy. I tried a few different remedies, and so far these three used TOGETHER have worked best for her.

Now obvi, I am NOT a doctor and this is just what has worked for MY child. So don't come back here complaining if it doesn't work for yours.  (But please come back to read more of my blogs, just don't be a complainer because I probably won't respond.)

First, I used Aveeno Baby Eczema Therapy Soothing Bath Treatment, which in short is like an oatmeal bath. I ran her some warm bath water, poured the contents in right under the faucet, and let her soak in the "dirty" water for about 15 minutes.  For this bath I do not use any soaps or any other product.  It was simply for her to soak her bottom in the treatment.

Next I used St. Ives Naturally Soothing Oatmeal & Shea Butter Lotion on her entire body.  I even put a thin layer on the area that we are treating.  I only used a thin layer so that I could apply the next product.

Finally, I rubbed Aveeno Active Naturals 1% Hydrocortisone Anti-Itch Cream.

Literally by the 2nd day her eczema flare up was no longer inflamed, the scabs were gone, and all you can see are the shadows of where her flare up usually occurs.  (I will be applying CoCo Butter to that, just to see if we can get the shadows away for an even color.)

LA TOTspots

So..Spring is here, Summer is very near!

Now that Kiyah is older and EXTREMELY active I need to make sure to keep her busy.  If not, she LIVES in TIME OUT!

So I thought I'd share with you how we will be finding fun summer activities on a boring budget!

The first outlet I just discovered and immediately fell in LOVE with is LA Parent.  You can visit www.laparent.com or find the print magazines in grocery stores.  Online is the exact same thing as the print copy, so choose whatever suits you.

Inside you will find an ENTIRE months worth of activities for all age groups, ranging in price, starting at FREE. Beyond that, it shows activities for ALL of Southern California, so I'm sure you'll find something worth while in your area.

Next up, www.kidsbowlfree.com! This is actually a REALLY great deal.

Here's how it works, you go to the website and register your child(ren) at a participating bowling alley in your area. Once that is done you will have the option to add the "family package" for $24.99. This package allows you and THREE other adults to be added to the greatness I am about to explain.

Once everyone is registered, depending upon which days your bowling alley participates, each person registered gets to bowl TWO games for FREE! That's right, your kid gets to bowl 2 free games, and if you pay the one time $25 then the four adults you added get to bowl 2 games as well. You will have to pay for shoes each time you go. But that's no big.  I say pack some snacks and make it a fun day!

Have Fun!! If you know something I don't , then don't be selfish, leave me a comment so I can play too!

Hot Bod!

NO PAIN, NO GAIN...right?!

Good thing I already know that saying has some truth to it. I mean, I was an athlete for all of my teenage years (a pretty damn good one might I add) but since having Kiyah, I hadn't really done much of anything athletic.

Besides the hotties that attend, gyms aren't for me. So I stay out of them. But that good ole teenage metabolism is slowing WAY down, and my body handles weight a bit different since giving birth(and I can't stop eating), so I've been looking for fun, effective workouts to make sure I can remain a MILF. | I did find one that I absolutely love, but I'm not here to share about that one just yet.|

I took a boxing class yesterday!! So.MUCH.fun! Well, I did think I was going to pass out, but I figured that meant I was doing it right, or just completely out of shape.  I ignored the latter.

They were NOT lying when they said it was a full body workout--I was drenched in sweat, breathing like I would never be allowed to again, and today, the ONLY thing that doesn't hurt on my body is shockingly my fingers. But any athlete knows you're usually safe from being sore the day after a tough workout--it's usually the second day that you feel the pain.

Now, here's the catch--boxing classes are kind of expensive lol. So after you finish reading this, HOP ON GROUPON,(www.groupon.com) find a good deal on classes in your city and BUY IT! Maybe boxing isn't for you--that's fine, I'm sure you can find a great CYCLING Groupon too. They have ALL the great deals.

Some people can't afford a gym membership,or you're like me and just aren't gym rat type people, so find a fun class and just go! You'll thank me later AND you'll be hot or hotter!

HAVE FUN! GOOD LUCK! LET ME KNOW HOW IT GOES!

Cherry POP!

I'm new to the blog world. So bare with me.

Let's get the boring stuff out of the way, so that we can start to have a little fun..shall we?

For starters, I'm Kee.  Some of you may know me from my "Mommy Monday" segment on www.youtube.com/themixx5 , (go subscribe RIGHT NOW!) others of you don't know me at all.

2.5 years ago, I gave birth to what would be the sassiest, prettiest, funniest little diva on Earth and named her Kiyah.

I started this blog to share our experiences, her growth, my growth, tips, tricks and trades, an occasional OOTD, recipes, tantrums and if I ever go on a date, I might spill the tea on that too!

So Welcome to Mommy Mania by Kee -- I'm sure you'll enjoy!
